The new patent Apple has acquired, “Digital Pool Attendant,” suggests the next innovation aimed at protecting users’ lives. Following the heart rate monitoring and car crash detection features, this patent focuses on preventing drowning accidents, further enhancing the safety capabilities of the Apple Watch.
According to the patent documents, this feature combines various sensors, including accelerometers, gyroscopes, GPS, and heart rate monitors, to detect irregular swimming. Upon detecting abnormal swimming patterns, warnings are sent to family members or pool lifeguards to prevent drowning accidents.
Although it is still in the patent application stage, if Apple progresses rapidly with development, there is a possibility that this feature will be announced at the June WWDC. If the announcement is delayed, it may be unveiled alongside the next-generation Apple Watch at the September product launch event.
