Recently, the entrance ceremony for the Reiwa 6th year was held at the “K.I.T. (Kanazawa Institute of Technology) Toranomon Graduate School,” and I would like to share my impressions of the event.
K.I.T. Toranomon Graduate School, established in 2004 as a one-year graduate program for working professionals, has been offering practical skills in various fields such as MBA, intellectual property, media & entertainment, and AI business in a small-class setting. With over 700 graduates to date, this year’s entrance ceremony saw the participation of 29 students from the School of Innovation Management and 20 students auditing courses.
The age range of these new students is quite broad, spanning from their 20s to their 60s, with an average age of 43.9 years. Their occupations are diverse, including middle management in general companies, small business owners, marketing personnel at semiconductor manufacturers, consultants at risk management firms, chief engineers at VR startups, and intellectual property strategy team leaders at electrical equipment manufacturers. Notably, there is a significant presence of professionals related to intellectual property, such as intellectual property strategy team leaders, AIPE certified intellectual property analysts, and patent attorneys, highlighting the importance and demand in this field.
The entrance ceremony was conducted in a “hyflex format,” with the president’s address delivered via a recorded video and the oath of the representative of new students conducted in person. Additionally, for the first time in four years, a social gathering was held after the ceremony to allow all attendees to meet face-to-face. This flexible approach to the ceremony reflects modern work and lifestyle adaptations and is highly commendable.
The gathering of new students with such diverse backgrounds undoubtedly enriches the learning environment. The sharing of knowledge and experiences among these professionals will create fertile ground for new innovations. I look forward to K.I.T. Toranomon Graduate School continuing to provide practical education and nurturing many more professionals.
